Ordering & Shipping
We strive to ship your order within one business day. If your shipment will be delayed by more than 3 business days, we will notify you by email with the timeline and options for substitutions or a refund.
Once on route, Canada Post expedited shipping guarantees your order will arrive within 2-4 more days (depending on your location). Canada Post may at times suspend their delivery guarantee, such as during peak seasons like Christmas, or during natural disasters that impact transit.
Please contact us immediately via the Contact Us form and we will gladly help resolve the issue, and request that you pay for any additional shipping incurred.
As soon as your package is shipped you will receive a Canada Post tracking number. You can keep an eye on your package here.
If your shipment contains living mushroom cultures it is your responsibility to monitor tracking and bring your parcel indoors promptly to minimize exposure to extreme heat or cold.
We request that Canada Post ships “Do Not Safe Drop”. This means that they will leave in your mailbox or a safe place, but if no one is home they may instead bring the parcel back to the post office and will leave a card for you to pick up.
We put a sticker on your parcel to remind you to refrigerate living cultures to ensure peak viability until use.

As a small family business, we don’t have the person power to answer phone calls. If technology is not your strong point, or you just need to speak to an actual person, please call 250-327-6931 and leave a message. We will return your call by the next business day.
We only ship within Canada. We ship directly from our farm in Sayward BC, or from our satellite location in Hamilton ON via Canada Post.
Unfortunately, like many ecommerce companies, we have been subject to cyber attacks. The majority of website attacks come from specific countries: China, Russia and Turkey. In order to protect our customers data and our store we have put a firewall in place to block access from those countries. As we only ship to Canadian addresses this isn’t normally a problem. However, If a user is using a VPN then they might get caught by the same block that we use to protect ourselves. If you have had issues with accessing our site and you use a VPN we strongly suggest disabling it when using our site, or you could try to connect to a different VPN connection that is located inside Canada.
We do our best to ship all products in one package. If your order is large is may have to be split into two boxes. On very rare occasions a shipment may be split between our two locations, at which point you would receive multiple packages.
We extend to customers our best rates shipping with Canada Post, and don’t add any additional handling fees. To keep your shipping costs as low as possible, we now ship from an eastern and western location.
To get a shipping quote, place products into your cart then click “View Cart”. Under the “Cart Total” select “Calculate Shipping”. Enter your postal code to generate an accurate shipping cost. You can add or remove items from your cart, then refresh to see updated shipping quote.
You will notice it is most economical to ship several kits or products together.
We ship across Canada during the winter with very little issues. Fungal mycelium is very resilient and all of our mushroom cultures survive winters outdoors when planted into logs.
We have even left mushroom kits outdoors all winter here on Vancouver Island, BC, and they produced mushrooms in the spring! That said, freezing is not ideal and we try to avoid it.
Heat is more of a concern during shipping as temperatures exceeding 40C can harm fungal mycelium. We mark parcels with a request that Canada Post carriers leaves a card for pick up at the local post office if no one is home. That way your parcel will not be left on your porch at subzero temperatures.
Note: To minimize covid risks, Canada Post has suspended some services and may leave your parcel at your door instead of carding for pickup. Please follow tracking to ensure your package is brought inside as soon as it arrives.
Should you have any concern about the viability of our mushroom kits and cultures you have received please contact us. We are happy to replace if there is a problem.
We offer free shipping on orders over $150. The following products are excluded from free shipping:
- Gift cards
- Full boxes of filter patch bags
- 10kg pellets and 20kg rye
Please remove excluded products from cart in order to enjoy free shipping on qualifying products, and place a separate order for any excluded products.
We always ship our packages as Do Not Safe Drop. We do this for two reasons: Firstly, we don’t want your package going missing. Secondly, we don’t want your live mushroom products sitting out in weather that might damage them, whether it’s the hot sun or the cold snow we want to avoid temperature extremes that might damage the kits, spawn, or cultures in your order.
We stand behind the quality of our products
We guarantee our cultures to be healthy, contaminant-free and capable of producing high yields of mushrooms under proper growing conditions. We have selected high quality varieties which are grown by commercial mushroom farmers for their ability to produce high yields of good quality mushrooms.
Please inspect your cultures on arrival and report any concerns within 48h to be eligible for a replacement.
Your success in mushroom cultivation depends upon many factors outside our control, such as sterility, substrate quality and environmental conditions. For those reasons, we can not guarantee your success or specific yields. We do however guarantee a first crop on certain “Mist & Grow” mushroom kits
We 100% guarantee your first flush on select Mist & Grow Kits (Pearl Oyster, Blue Oyster, Elm Oyster, Yellow Oyster, Pink Oyster and Lion’s Mane), as long as you have followed our instructions and misted under a humidity tent a minimum of 3 times daily.
Please consult our Learn to Grow section for tips to resolve common challenges grower’s encounter. If your kit does not start to grow mushrooms within 2 weeks of cutting an opening, please contact us with photos of your set up and we will help troubleshoot to ensure you are providing the right conditions for success. If still no mushrooms by week 4, please send photos and we will happily issue a coupon for a replacement kit.
We can not guarantee our “more advanced” types of mushroom kits to fruit, as they require special care such as high humidity over a longer period of time. Nevertheless, your success matters to us so please do reach out with photos for advice and tips.

Except for the occasional large full Unicorn box order all of our shipping is done through Canada Post. When we ship out your package you will be sent a tracking number, you can track it here.
Please contact us if you don’t receive your package within the expected time frame and ww will track it down.
Order the wrong products? Provided the wrong shipping address? Forgot to track your parcel and pick up from the post office in time?
We will gladly help resolve the issue, and request that you pay for any additional shipping incurred.
Please double check your order and shipping address before checking out. It is your responsibility to track and bring your parcel indoors promptly to minimize exposure to extreme heat or cold. At times Canada Post will hold the parcel at the post office and leave a card for pick up. If you do not pick up in the specified time, they will return your parcel to us.
Due to their perishable nature, we can not exchange nor accept returns of living mushroom products like mushroom kits, sawdust spawn, plug spawn or liquid culture.
For peak viability we recommend using your mushroom products within weeks, and storing in a cool location until use. Refrigeration between 2-4C is ideal for the longest shelf-life. Even when refrigerated, the fungal mycelium continues to grow, and eventually mushrooms burst out one way or another.
Take care to not damage packaging as holes will allow access by mold spores and other contaminants.
Refunds will only be issued in the rare case of contamination in sealed cultures, or when there is no growth despite refrigerated storage and used within one month after purchase date.
Non-perishable products in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Products must be unused, in perfect condition and in original packaging. As soon as we receive the returned item, we will issue a refund minus the original shipping cost.
As a small family business, we regret that we can not refund original shipping, nor pay for return shipping. Please double check your order before paying, and reach out to us if you have questions prior to placing an order.
To cancel or modify an order, please contact us right away. We strive to ship the very next business day after your order has been placed, so the window is short to make any changes!
